ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY

LOCATION: WASHINGTON, DC

Hentz Engineering (a REI Engineers company) was hired by Waller, Toff & Sadler Architects, Inc. as Building Envelope Engineer for renovations to the Administration Building (built 1976) Renovations of this national landmark. The overall aim of this project was to update, repair + refurbish this facility while preserving the character-defining features of the building’s distinguishing architecture and materials.

A site visit was performed to observe the existing condition of the marble wall panels at the interior + exterior. Observations of the roof membrane, flashings, penetrations, and the skylight, as well as an infrared moisture survey of the roof.  Areas of wet insulation were verified using a non-invasive moisture meter and roof cores, to verify the findings of our moisture survey and to document the existing roof construction. Hentz provided design documents including written specifications + details for repairs to the conditions observed and prepared a list of recommended Wall System + Roof System repairs.
